North Darfur State (Arabic: ولاية شمال دارفور)
Geographical Location:
North Darfur State is located in the northwestern part of the Darfur region, western Sudan. It is bordered to the north by North Kordofan State, to the east also by North Kordofan State, to the south by West Darfur and South Darfur States, and to the west by the Republic of Chad.
Capital:
Al-Fashir, the largest city in the region and the ninth largest in Sudan by population.
Area:
Approximately 296,420 square kilometers (about 114,000 square miles).
Population:
According to 2018 estimates, the population is approximately 2.5 million people, consisting of a mix of Arab tribes (such as Al-Mahamid and Al-Rizeigat) and non-Arab tribes (such as the Fur, Zaghawa, Midob, and Tunjur).

Climate:
The climate is hot, dry desert; hot in summer, cold in winter with little rainfall (averaging 150–250 mm annually), and intensely hot winds (the Samoom) in autumn.
